WORKDAYS & The farm looks different this year…

If you follow us on social media you know that this year has been an incredibly busy one at the farm- which is saying something because it’s always busy here but ESPECIALLY so this year. We were hit with a devastating storm on July 28, 2025 that took out more than 200 trees, necessitating the removal of our whole grove to make space and shade-free growth for 343 new trees and shrubs. When you take out your entire grove one tree at a time, it makes things look different!

During your farm visits this summer, you’ll no longer see a beautiful grove full of mature and century trees, but an open space with many “planted” tree tubes and stakes among wildflowers and native grasses. You’ll find a busy and buzzing bee hive. You’ll see a full high tunnel and well maintained ¼ acre garden. You’ll find a farm stand at the roadside with produce, baked goods, and farm swag. You’ll see farmers in their element learning and gaining skills in our year round classroom. You’ll be able to walk to the orchard and imagine how it will look when things are grown out. It’s a spring filled with hope and a LONG to do list.

To help us achieve all of the above, we are hosting six work days in April and May. We’d LOVE as much help as we can get for one final push to take care of the tree work and put the work of the storm behind us. Please mark your calendars for Friday April 17, Saturday April 18th, Friday April 24, Saturday April 25, Friday May 1, and Saturday May 2. These work days will be “come as you’re able” style from 8am to 5pm. We will have lunch available around noon each day and a water jug for refilling your water bottles in the classroom.

Please reach out with any questions about workdays. We are so thankful and humbled by all the help we’ve received to get to this point. The finish line is in sight and the results are beautiful. The farm looks different this year and it’s going to be beautiful.
